CONDITION: F++   SIZE: LENGTH - 202mm - 7 7/8" WEIGHT: 806 g - 1.78 lbs. COLLECTED: Puerto Penasco, Mexico - Google Earth: 31 17' 49"N / 113 32' 49"W - by panga fishermen DATE COLLECTED: MARCH - 2018 PRICE:   $35.00 - PRICE REDUCED FROM $40.00 SPECIMEN: 08-207 (for my records only) PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION This specimen was collected by fishermen near Puerto Penasco, Mexico.  I do not know what the exact depth was, but the panga divers use a hookah surface system with 15 meter hose. The Sea of Cortez tides range 7 meters or approximately 24 feet.  The divers usually go a low tides to reach deeper waters.  This shell has not been cleaned, operculum included.  This is a more typical thicker shell specimen.  Thick along the outer edge, see some of my other galeatus for sale with thin walled outer shell.  Maybe it's the very warm water of the Sea of Cortez and the shells grow very fast.  This is a fully grown specimen. The snail was removed by the fishermen/panga divers for the meat, so any minor damage was done by them. Actually the fisherman break a hole at the spiral to release the back pressure, but I've talked them out of doing this.  Shells of this size and quality are getting very hard to find. The fishermen and divers are Mexican. Trying to teach them that the shells are very delicate is an uphill battle.  But I am finally getting better quality shells. This is very nice for this size, because they always throw these into the panga boats, with little care about the shell. But I can see no large damage to the opening edge, just some extremely small chips. If anyone wishes to buy bulk shells, just message me.  I can go as low as $25.00 per shell on 5 or more.  But beware they are heavy and the shipping will cost you. I have both cleaned and uncleaned specimens. I use grading system F - ok, some small imperfections, maybe a couple of small chips or fractures F+ - good, one small chip, but otherwise no other apparent defects F++ - excellent, any imperfections noticeable by collectors only, no chips or breaks, or something so small you need a magnifying glass, or if the shell is large, again very small defect Gem - as stated, absolutely perfect shell in every way possible, depending on species has operculum and periostracum intact SHIPPING - I ONLY SHIP OUT ONCE A WEEK, USUALLY EVERY WEDNESDAY.   I DO COMBINE SHIPPING. EBAY SHIPPING CALCULATOR IS ALWAYS WRONG - IF IT DOES NOT COMBINE SHIPPING, I WILL REFUND ANY EXTRA THAT YOU PAY THROUGH PAYPAL.  SO DO NOT WORRY.  I ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO THIS ALL THE TIME. THANK YOU.
