Circa 1960-1970, these big glass barrels typically held pickles or hard candy. A paper label would have been applied to the smooth horizontal area in the middle. It has a 5" wide mouth so it is large enough for a measuring cup if you want to store sugar, flour, oatmeal or dry pet food. The mouth is also wide enough for a ladle to serve gazpacho or lemonade. The tin lid has worn green paint on the surface and fits good and tight. The jar looks like it holds two gallons to me. There are a few small flakes on the inside of the rim. The glass is slightly cloudy inside- something that was stored in it or was used to wash it etched the glass so it's not going to improve. We tried washing it several times but it is still cloudy. I also like these vintage clear glass containers for display- a jarful of something as mundane as McDonald's happy meal toys or golf balls looks like something important displayed en masse. Also a great terrarium. Condition: Used, Condition: . Please email with any questions., Color: CLEAR, Country/Region of Manufacture: United States, Volume: 2 GALLON
