This movement’s plates measure 4-5/8 inches long X 3-1/4 inches wide X 1-1/2 inch deep. The winding arbors are spaced 2-3/4 inches center to center. The winding arbors are 7/8 inch long. From the center of a winding arbor to the center of the center shaft is 1-3/4 inches. The center shaft is 1-1/4 inches long, measured from the snail to its tip. The suspension spring is 4-7/8 inches long. The drop for this movement is 8-1/2 inches. It has a single hammer and strikes on the hour and the half hour. The adjustable pendulum is 6-1/4 inches long and is made from cast metal and has a gold finish. This movement has been taken apart, inspected for defects, excessive wear and damage. It has been chemically cleaned, oiled and adjusted. The time adjustment was made using a micro set clock/watch timer and the listed pendulum. For several years I have been collecting, identifying, and repairing Korean clocks and their movements. When I first started collecting, I was sure that I could find a replacement movement for my Korean wall clock. It became apparent after collecting several of these Korean movements that matching them by looks alone would not work, and that finding an exact movement match would be unlikely. Based on my experience with these Korean movements there are some important things that you can look for and questions you should ask. (1) Does this one look like my clock movement? (2) If so what is the distance between winding stems (Center to center) and do they match. (3) Is the distance between the winding stems and the center shaft? (Center to center) the same? You will find that on the Korean clock movements these two measurements will be the same or within a centimeter or two. The more important measurement would be the length of the winding stems and center shaft. (4) What are the overall length of the pendulum and the diameter of the bob? (5).what is the drop on your movement? This is most important. To determine the drop measure the distance from the center of the center shaft to the end of the pendulum rating nut. (6). How is the hour hand attached to the center shaft? With an oval shaped nut or is it slipped over the center shaft and held in place with two fingers placed in slots. I have found that when these Korean clocks quit working it is most likely due to two things. Spray lubricant and turning the hands backward. If you can match the 6 things I’ve outlined you should be able to find a replacement movement for your Korean clock. I would welcome any questions you may have about the Korean clocks and their movements. Email me maybe I can help. The pendulum is a very important part too this movement. Without the proper pendulum this movement will not run or keep time. Not all of the movements I get come with a pendulum. When I restore one of these Korean movements it is important that the pendulum match the motion. When I have the movement disassembled I count the time side wheels and pinions to determine the number of beats per hour the movement requires to keep proper time. The time is regulated through the pendulum. The number of beats per hour tells me how long the pendulum must be. I can then make a pendulum of the proper length.I do my best to describe these movements as accurately as possible. Please look at the pictures as they are part of the overall description of this movement. If you have any questions about this movement or any of the Korean clock movements please e-mail me and I will be happy to try to answer your questions or help you find a Korean movement that will work for you.
