Item:261304400802KLIXON 4344-184-357 40°F Degree BIMETAL SNAP ACTION THERMOSTAT SWITCH M1/11041. This item is one, Klixon thermostat, new. Today, Klixon calls this the M1 model but these were bought before Klixon adopted the new nomenclature. It is a custom made switch that closes above 40°F and opens below 40°F. Sometimes called a "close on rise" thermostat. It is specially made with a very accurate contact-closing temperature. I believe the spec was +/- 3°F but in practice they always seem to be within a degree or two of 40°F. The differential (hysteresis) is 13-14°F and is typical for this style of thermostat, which means that they will go open when the temperature drops to 26°F. These were used to control the power to protect a hard-disk's spindle bearings from low temperatures in a truck-mounted computer. The gold contacts are designed for DC less than 5 Amps but will also work with AC.. This thermostat turned off the 12VDC power to a HDD when the temperature was below 40°F. A different thermostat (another of my listings) turned on a drive heater for temperatures lower than 50°F. Made in the USA.
