Introduction of the artist
Hayashi Bunto was a Japanese painter from Meiji 15 (1882) to Showa 41 (1966), born in Kyoto. His real name was Kozaburo. He was one of Yamamoto Shunkyo's outstanding disciples, leaving behind many masterpieces.

He played a central role in the Sanaekai group led by Yamamoto Shunkyo. He was first selected in the 8th Bunten in Taisho 3 with "Woodcutter" and formed the Nihon Jiyu Gadan with Iguchi Kazon and Ikeda Keisen, among others.

This hanging scroll is being sold as a reproduction. The meaning of 'reproduction' includes works that cannot be judged as authentic (those with any uncertainty, beyond our ability to determine, or works by artists for whom no official appraisal institution exists). It also implies that the piece is hand-painted, not printed or crafted by other means.
