This is a Japanese Meiji,Taisho, WWll Naval kaigun-tanken in mountings. The blade is unsigned, hira-zukuri shape with bohi engravings, ca.1900 era made blade. The blade is in old polish, no rust, no stain and in good condition. The temper line is suguba temper pattern throughout the blade and deep temper at the point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is ray-skin covered scabbard with brass fittings, no tear, no bend and in good condition. Handle is tight fit, brass wire wrapping is no cut, no loose and in good condition. Lock mechanism works fine. The blade measures 8" cutting edge and 15+3/4" in mountings.
