This is a Japanese sword wakizashi in shirosaya mountings. The blade is signed "Uda Kunimune 宇多国宗", dhinogi- zukuri shape, muromachi period ca. 1550 era made blade. The blade is in old polish, dhows fine scratches but no rust, no stain and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome with kinsuji active temper pattern throughout the blade and has yakizume temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada, shows coarse forging but no openings, no blisters and no forging flaws. There is no bend, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. It is rested in ho wood shirasaya mountings with sayagaki , dated "Showa San-nen (ca.1928)", no dent, no crack and in good condition. It measures 21+1/8" cutting edge, 1+1/16" width, 6 mm thickness at the notch and 30" in mountings. Shipping is $15 priority in U.S. Payment due within 3 days of auction end.
