This is a Japanese WWll Army Kamikaze pilot or tanker's sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Rai Tomoyuki 来友行", shinogi-zukuri shape, muromachi period ca.1550 era made old family blade. The blade is in old polish, shows fine scratches but no rust, no stain and in good condition. There is no nick, no bend, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The temper line is wavy gunome temper pattern and has deep temper at the point. The forging grain is itame hada , no openings, no blister and no forging flaws. The scabbard is leather covered wood scabbard with hanger ring, shows aged scratches but no tears, no crack, no bend and in good condition. The handle is tight fit with brass fuchi/kashira , tsukaito wrapping shows aged wear but no cut, no loose and in decent condition. Tsuba is marugata shape flower motif copper sukashi tsuba with nice patina. It measures 21+1/4" cutting edge, 1+1/16" width, 5 mm thickness at the notch and 33" in mountings.
