Vintage Japanese Kimekomi Geisha Doll on a black stand. This charming doll has a porcelain head with a sweet, detailed, hand painted face, beautiful black hair, and a hard body covered in beautiful brocade fabrics. She is wearing a beautiful multi-colored kimono with a gold metallic fan pattern over red, burgundy, lavender, pink, and green. Her kimono also has a red orange apron with a metallic gold star pattern and Asian knot embellishments
Kimekomi refers to a doll making method of carving narrow grooves in the doll's wood body, and inserting the edge of the cloth into the grooves.
This charming vintage Kimekomi Doll is in excellent condition. Her kimono has no rips or visible stains. Her sweet face and hair look perfect. Dimensions: Doll is 8.25" tall, Base is 5.75" x 7".
This Vintage Japanese Kimekomi Doll was just release from the estate and private collection of a Mataro doll maker.
