Japanese katana in the very rare koshirae - civilian on the army duty (WWII). All black plain tsuba, fuchi and kashira, but menuki are somewhat different. Habaki is silver foil over the copper core.
Nagasa is 32" or 81cm, nakago is 6 3/4" or 17cm, sori is 1" or 2.5cm.
Signed Sukesada, but the signature is most likely is the gimay from the time period.
By the word of the Technical Consultant of the New York Token Kai Mister Kunio Izuka, the sword is dated from 1500 to 1550, but the signature is "local", as he explained it. Well, original Sukesadas were forged left and right even in that time period.
Sword is very solid and has no rattles whatsoever, battle ready right this moment. Leather is in decent condition, mekugi could be replaced, but overall "it will kill!". Some frayed sageo by the kashira.
