A Japanese lacquer "sage Jubako" or picnic set

With all over decoration of leaves in shades of gold and gilt takamaki-e, nashiji and hiramki-e lacquer containing a gourd shaped sake bottle, a three tiered round jubako, and an upper compartment containing a footed tray, with a swing handle. Color of item may vary due to lighting.

Circa Edo Period. Most likely from 1800-1850.

Crack in the lacquer on the shelf that holds the tray. Minor paint chipping in some areas and a few tiny fine cracks on the jubako itself. The sake holder does not have a lid and has a couple of dents. This item has not been professionally cleaned, selling as I bought it from the estate sale. Bought at an estate from a couple who passed away. They were American Ambassadors that traveled the world. I bought a lot of items from the sale and will be listing them soon. I try to be as detailed as I can in my description. Color of item may vary slightly from pic due to lighting.
