Item:173482845507Independence,KS,Kansas,Country Club,1911 litho photo postcard,Interurban railway. This is a litho photo postcard of the old Country Club near Independence, Kansas. On the front of the card it says, "Country Club from Interurban, Independence, Kans". I looked up the Interurban railway and it looks to be an electric rail car, run by the Union Traction Co., which ran through Coffeyville, Independence and Cherryvale, KS from around 1904-1937. I didn't have as much luck finding info on the old Country Club. The present day Independence Country Club was built around 1944. The back of this card is posted Aug. 7, 1911 so we know this Country Club was open before that. This postcard is in good used condition with no bends or tears. There are slight crease marks on edge of the far lower right corner and on the far upper left corner. Thanks for looking and let me know of questions!
