Seller: 2vegburg (4,679) 100%, Location: Truckee, California, Ships to: US, Item: 223486249589 Hugo Berger candelabra. I didn't know who the artist of this was, but asked for some help on a facebook group and a couple savvy members offered their expertise. It belonged to my parents and you can read more on their collection below. It is 13.5 " tall x 12" wide. The base is 4 3/4" in diameter. The only mark on the base is an impressed "Germany". The metal color looks like a fine layer of rust over the entire thing. There are ripply-bends/dents in the tops of some of the candle holders. A little nick out of the base. And some splotchy marks. I didn't attempt to clean.from the web: In 1895 Hugo Berger (Goberg) started in Schmalkalden Germany his first metal factory, were decorative ironwork was manufactured in a traditional way. Typical of Goberg's work are the use of honest materials such as iron and brass. The manual character clearly catches the eye. His style, method and materials matched perfectly with the Arts & Crafts movement, a very popular style at that time. In the early 20th century he became well known worldwide, due to the fact that the leading department store Liberty and associated stores, were selling much of his work. In the Netherlands Goberg objects were sold at Metz & Co.I will take great care in packaging your piece for shipment. If I overestimate the actual shipping costs, I always refund the difference. Please compare the prices for the different carriers I have added to this listing, they can be quite different depending on your location. The box is kinda large and heavy so definitely compare them. About my site:Everything on my 2vegburg site is from my parent's collection. They started collecting in the early 70's, mainly in the San Francisco Bay Area at the flea markets, shows, auctions, estate sales but they also traveled to LA or east to buy and sell. I never know what I am going to uncover at the storage shed, but their interests were mostly early American to midcentury American and Scandinavian ceramics. Buying online doesn't have the same experience as holding and deciding on a piece in person. It is important to me that you are happy with your purchase. If for any reason you are not satisfied, just contact me; I accept returns and will pay shipping both ways. If you'd like to see a preview of some of the pottery (+ other cool things) that I am getting ready to list on eBay, please search my new page: American and Scandinavian Ceramics on Facebook and click Like at the top of the page!
