It has a squat body which tapers sightly inward to a shoulder that has two thick looped handles. It has a short neck with a slightly outward flaring rim. The vessel is about 3" tall and 4" wide. The rim is 1 1/2" in diameter. It was found in Israel. The vessel is heavy for its size and may have had a red/orange slip on it when made as some remains of that slip can still be seen. The bottom is slightly rounded. The looped handles have beveled finger holes which confirms a very early age. A very simple but elegant pyxis for everyday use. The pot is 100% intact. The rim has some small use chips Purchased in NY in 1995 from Harmer Rooke Galleries. Material: terracotta
