The brick comes from the house built in 1672. The brick was made by the slaves. Interestingly, the brick has porcelain in one end. The slaves experimented with the porcelain to make dishes, cups, cookware. It measures about 8 1/2" X 3 3/4" X 3" ( 21.7 cm X 9.6 cm X 7.7 cm ). Melwood Park was the home of Ignatius Digges, whose daughter, Mary, married Thomas Sim Lee, twice Governor of Maryland. Lee died there in 1819. General George Washington visited there four times and Martha Washington once. In the War of 1812 British Officers stopped there briefly. * If you need more info about the House, please let us know.
