Seller: mayapaya321 (304) 100%, Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Ships to: US, Item: 182369972679 Historic Solid Brass Doorknob from the Freemason's Level Club built in 1927 on 253 West 73rd Street in New York City. It was built by the Freemasons to be their National Headquarters. The style is Neo-Romanesque and was designed by Clinton & Russell with elaborate and flamboyant decoration that was typical of the Masonic "temples". The exterior was designed as a replica of Solomon's Temple. The facade contains the numerous Masonic images including an all seeing eye, hourglass, hexagram and beehive. An awesome building with an interesting history. After a brief inhabitance the club defaulted on its mortgage in the Crash of 1929, was used as a hospital during WWII, converted into a hotel in 1936, then in the 1980's was converted to apartments. The Level Club was Listed in The National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It is now a very high priced Apartment Building with apartments selling for over a million dollars. Thank you for looking. Material: Brass
