Shabti of Asetneferet born of lahiridies

Late Period (664-332 B.C.) probably XXXth Dynasty

(380-343 B.C.)

Shabti statuette in turquoise faience of modest workmanship with quadrangular base and back pillar dating from the end of Late Period (XXXth Dynasty), on behalf of the lady setneferet ('The goddess Isis is beautiful'), born of lahiridies (‘the god lah? gave her').

Typology:5.3.1 Tc: CI. XIA5/W34 H4 18 BO Tp8b/P.

Rare Shabti that's inscribed with a name and translated by Simone Musso an egyptologist at Stibbert Museum in Florence Italy. It's a rare example because it's named to a specific person.

On the front there is a column with a hieroglyphic inscription that continues on the back of the ushabti.

The inscription reads as follows:

"SHD Wsjr Ast-nfrt ms.n IaH-ir-di-sj"

"Illuminating of Isiris, Asetneferet, born of Iahirdisj"

Iardisj means "It is the moon which has given her"

Iah "the moon" refers to the god Toth who was considered as God of wisdom but also as moon god

The design of the ushabti indicates a dating to the 30th dynasty or early Ptolemaic period.

This well modelled shabti is completely intact.

Provenance: German private collection.
