The Clock, Finest Grandfather Clock By Herschede

Here is the perfect holiday, anniversary gift

WHAT YOU ARE BUYING :

This in my clock. I bought it in 1980. It is the limited edition model 250 and has gained  renowned agreement that it was Herchede's finest grandfather clock and was the last clock Herschede made before closing its doors. It is a true piece of working art. Precision crafted completely by hand. I asked my married children if they wanted it, they said "no. " Therefore, when my new wife and I downsized homes I decided to see if I could find a home where it will be appreciated as much as my I did.

Because this particular clock was the showpiece of our estate home it was meticulously serviced and oiled every two years by Jerry Lindell, Palm Beach Florida area's Certified Herschede master clock specialist and recently here in North Central Florida by Sara Smith a Certified Herschede master clock specialist. It keeps outstandingly accurate time (+- three seconds per month).

To keep this fine timepiece accurate, in 2012 all bushings and other key parts were replaced using original Herschede parts and hardware ($2,300) and was oiled in 2014, As it stands now in our home, except for the normally-expected patina on the weights (see photograph), it looks new. Recently, I had it completely serviced so as to maintain it amazing time keeping accuracy

HERCHEDE'S PROMOTIONAL INFORMATION FOR "THE CLOCK":

Nine tubular bell movement, made entirely by Herschede, plays 3 chime tunes. Westminster (Chimes tuned to deliver an exact duplication of the Westminster Abbey chimes), the Whittington and the Canterbury.

The 14-karat gold-plated dial is hand-engraved and even the rivets that affix the dial to the faceplate are silver-plated. There are no shortcuts.

The case consists of rare burled olive/ash wood veneers from Israel (not Spain) cut and matched by hand one at a time then burnished and hand-polished to enhance its beauty, a specially compounded and applied finish creates the appearance of a 200+ year-old antique.

108 feet of antique strip brass using brass nails is carefully applied and meticulously hand-mitered around the entire case to enhance the case's beauty. Thick beveled plate glass panels are inset into the front door and side panels permitting one to see the brass weights and nickel cadmium/chrome chime tubes inside. Even the inside of the cabinet is completely finished. "The Clock" is the finest timepiece Herchede ever made.

The entire moon dial is painted by hand. Looking at the above pictures you'll see that there a two moons on the dial and two seascapes. One seascape is a three-mast schooner passing a lighthouse point. The second seascapes is  a delightful cabin scene at the ocean's edge. As the moon rotates on the date dial it moves in small daily increments from North America to Europe and Asia and as it rotates the two seascape scenes follow the moon's phases.

There are two dials, one on each top corner of the clock face. The upper left-hand dial controls which one of the three available melodies plays. The upper right hand dial controls whether the 15-minute increment chimes are silent or not.

The 250 was the flagship clock of the Herschede line. This clock was shown at expositions in New York, London, Tokyo and Paris. It is world renowned, one is even inside the Kremlin and it is found in the finest estate homes throughout the world.

This clock belongs in an estate setting, a corporate board room, a prestigious law office or similar prestigious setting. I welcome your appraiser to see this masterpiece for everything it is and stands for.
