Offered here is an original galvanized steel Miners Change Basket from the Eagle Mine "Dry" House in Gilman, Colorado. Basket has a tag showing it was manufactured as the "Union" Sanitary Clotheshanger manufactured by J. H. Shannon in Chicago. Measures 8.50 x 5.50 x 5.50 with a section of chain that measures about four inches. Acquired from an ex-miner at the New Jersey Zinc Mine that worked the Eagle Mine in Gilman until the mine closed in the late 1970's. Miners Change Baskets were used by the miner to store his street clothes in after changing into his dungarees and slicker that suited working in the wet mine conditions. The hook was used to hang clothes and the basket used to store 'foldables'. I have had several of these over the years, this is the last one and up until being sold it made a dandy place to put bananas in the kitchen. Great display piece of mining history regardless of what you do with it. Thanks for looking! Condition: Used, Condition: galvanized steel shows minor rusty spots, overall very good and very sound condition with section of the original hanging chain
