early to mid 19th century Worcester Flight Barr & Barr porcelain coffee can and saucer with the Japan fence pattern in the Imari palette. Mainly painted in various coloured enamels that includes a building, a fence, a bridge, a stylised tree, two fancy birds, flowers and two rocks with plants. The border of the saucer and the top rim of the coffee can are on a red ground with alternating panels of Oriental flower heads and leaves and a gilt leaf sprigs with berries.The handle of the coffee can has a turned up thumb rest and is gilded down the back with a white and gilt leaf to the top of the handle. The coffee can has a gilt top rim and a gilt lined foot rim. Both pieces are marked to the base with an impressed crown over FBB. Dates to circa 1820. E: The coffee can measures 2 1/2 inches to the top of the handle and 2 1/2 inches in diameter. The saucer measures 5 1/2 inches in diameter and 1 inch high |
