Seller: mystertwo (194) 100%, Location: Wilmington, Delaware, Ships to: US, Item: 264660907874 Robert Glier Jr. was one of America’s great early 20th century violin makers, and this is an excellent authentic example of his work. The violin is in superb condition. It was completely set-up by David Bromberg’s Fine Violins in Wilmington, Delaware including re-setting the neck to precise playing specifications. The violin sings with a beautiful full and focused tone. It has a warm resonant voice on the lower strings, and a clear emotive voice on the higher strings. The sound is clean and full all the way up the neck. It has excellent bow response. The tone woods are beautiful. The two-piece top is made from spruce with a straight narrow-width grain, and the back, neck, and ribs are made from maple with beautiful figure and flame. The amber varnish is highly transparent, and was carefully and artistically shaded over a golden ground. It is not an artificially antiqued violin, and there is very little wear to the varnish other than a few minor nicks and scratches (see pictures). The fingerboard, pegs, and tailpiece are high-quality dense black ebony. This violin is ready to play! The dimensions are as follows: Length of Back: 360mm Upper Bout Width: 164mm Center Width: 110mmBottom Bout Width: 202mm The workmanship is clean and precise both inside and out. The scroll and peg-box are finely-carved and the purfling is expertly inlaid with lovely “bee stings” that go deeply into the corners. There is very little wear on the corners or inside the treble C-bout. Please study the pictures closely as they are an essential part of the description. Please ask me any questions before you bid. I can send you additional pictures if you would like. I have included recent, detailed, and un-retouched pictures and described it as best that I can. The violin will be carefully packed in an old hardshell case for shipping. The case is provided for shipping purposes only, and does not have any commercial value. If you buy this violin and decide it isn't what you were expecting, you can return it by USPS Priority 1 or 2-day Express, insured and undamaged, within 14 days for a full refund excluding my actual shipping charge. You are responsible for the return shipping charges. It is obviously not returnable if the violin has been damaged in any way. Condition: “Excellent condition.
