Most likely Shanxi China. -Some of the chairs have the old waxed seals pressed onto them for export from a long time ago. -They have wear from the wears of time which has created a very nice, rich patina. They are at the darkest a blackish brownish darker patina color that goes to lighter browns in the wear spots (see photos). -They command a presence in a room. -They have very old, glued on, sections of bamboo caning on their seats that all looks to be original. -Usually it is hard to find sets of these chairs in more than 2. -Chinese retailers charge between $800 and $1100 per pair of chairs and are stripped of their original patinas. Look and compare. -These are a truly rare find, at a great price, and are tight and in great antique condition. -The chairs range in height from 42 1/2 to 44 inches and the seats range from 19 1/2 to 20 “ wide x 14 1/4 to 15 1/2" deep. -All are hand made and slightly vary in size and weight and built one at a time with mortise and tenon for construction (see photos). These are being offered for Pick Up Only here in Sarasota Florida (34243). However, we would consider allowing pick up with a shipper (you find the shipper and pay the cost of shipping).
