Of Plocnik type & belonging to the Neolthic Vinca Culture. These types of axes, dating to a phenomenally early 7500 years old, were made at the world's oldest copper smelting settlement at the village of Plocnik in Serbia. They were high status, non utilitarian, ceremonial items & found in some of the wealthiest burials of the time. A very similar example is in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, England.
