Tice pictures this button (Plate F-40/8) and this backmark (Plate B-4/18) where he dates it to the 1850s and 1860s. For sale are two two-piece, non-dug, Civil War New Hampshire buttons. Tice writes that NH200 is "considered the standard New Hampshire Civil War button." The coat-size (23 mm) button is specifically listed as Albert's NH6C and as Tice's NH200D1 with the legend " * NEW HAMPSHIRE * " at top, "VOL. MILITIA" below, and a depressed-mark "D. EVANS & CO. ATTLEBORO MASS * " backmark on a swallowtail ribbon. Tice pictures this button (Plate F-40/8) and this backmark (Plate B-4/18) where he dates it to the 1850s and 1860s. The matching hat- or cuff-size (15 mm) button (Albert's NH6) is specifically listed as Tice's NH200Ds1 with a similar legend and a depressed-mark "D. EVANS & CO. / SUPERFINE" backmark with an inner ring of dots. Tice pictures this backmark (Plate B-5/7) where he dates it to the late 1850s and the 1860s.
