Maurice Bouchery was an infantryman at Verdun during WWI where he was awarded the Croix de Guerre with palm citation. He was in the French Resistance in Lille. His last mission in January 1944 was to transport five American airmen. He was arrested by the German occupying forces shortly after that. He was executed by firing squad in Ludwigsburg on 14 July 1944. 9½" x 15¼". The sign is convex (domed) and white enamel in relief, giving it excellent definition. Made in 1940s.
