The upper section has three vertical relief panels of herringbone motif, divided by parallel ridges, bordered at the top and in the middle of the shaft by similar triple, grooved bands; a third grooved band near the base. Supplied with wood display stand. Height 18.5 cms (7.3 ins) Condition: Very Fine; good stable bronze with patches of olive-green patination; earthy accretions. Elamite Persia: Circa 2000 B.C. It is thought such items may have been mounted on a shaft as a symbol of rank, perhaps derivative from a true weapon of similar form. Cf.
