Item:193337422778Excellent terracotta Egyptian Ushabti for Wab Priest, New Kingdom, c. 19th-20th Dynasty (1307-1070 B.C.) with original hieroglyphics. H 6 1/4". Also called Shawabti, or Shabti, details are in black, rust, yellow and white pigments. The figure is in mummiform shape, arms crossed over the chest holding a double hoe, wearing a plain tripartite wig and rectangular checkered seed bag suspended on the middle back by two cords over the shoulders, and a single partial frontal column of black hieroglyphic incriptions, reading "Illuminate the Osiris, Wab-Priest of Amun....". The rest of the inscription is missing. Condition: the lower part is missing; there is an expertly repaired crack across the back at approximately hip level (almost impossible to see). Otherwise, this is an excellent example of a New Kingdom period Ushabti with vivid painted details, including the very desirable original Hieroglyphics.
