This unusual light-blue glazed steatite scarab is engraved on the back with the head of Hathor, flanked by cobras on either side, and a space-filling basket above; the underside inscribed with the throne name of King Seti II, reading “User-kheper(u)-Ra-setepen-Ra”. The unusual combination of decoration and inscription are well attested separately on the base of other late New Kingdom scarabs. Length (cm): 1.5 Provenance: ex. Harmer Rooke, New York, 1980s.
