 High Numerator Variety. With great color and and very even surfaces. It is one of the better ones you will find for this variety.  Graded by PCGS Extra Fine 45. The surfaces are pretty smooth with great color and I would put at Average + for grade and variety


  I put this lovely Large cent at CC3 tied just above the coin graded 45/40 average surfaces and ANS425 and is in Noyes listed as CC3. I only put mine above the ANS coin because of the even color and smooth surfaces. I would list the same grade as the 50/40 average in the same census book by Bill Noyes. I also think Noyes #22934 coin listed as CC5 is better then the ANS coin mainly because of the surfaces and spots and lack of total sharpness and would move that coin to 3 rd tied as well. The S-246 is a very hard coin to come across in any grade although the coin is only Rarity 3, it is one of only a couple of 1803's that the highest grade you can find and is known at XF grade by EAC grading and in census. In the CQR for average surfaces it is R6- and at that grade I would put it higher. CQR only goes to EF45 with pricing to $17,500. Please contact me if you have any questions. Greg
