When you hold the effigy in your right hand, you can feel a wear groove from years of the Eskimo's thumb rubbing the whale bone. One of many features indicating its authenticity. The front of the hammer is flat and the back of the hammer is carved to a point. This hammer was likely attached to a skin and bone/wood handle. Most likely used as an ice chipping hammer. The sides of the hammer head appear to have a fish hook carved into them. The underside of the hammer appears to have a measuring or centering mark etched into it. The total weight is 1 pound .19 ounces /458.98 Gm according to conversion table. The bird's eyes are antler inlay. The eagle has one foot without carved talons which was missed by me(and apparently by Glen and the museum) when I purchased it new from the museum on Haida Gwaii. Lovely piece though. I see 2 minor rubs which you can see in the pictures. There are no cracks or chips There were 2 price stickers on this piece which left a shadow on the pole. I didn't try to clean off the residue for fear I'd damage the piece. The pole is in as purchased condition and displayed in a glass curio in a non-smoking home.

You can sometimes tell which woman made a particular plate by what is written on the underside. If it says "Handmade of BC clay", that's Ruth's work. If it says, "Handmade in BC Canada", that is Gene's work.

This miniature totem pole is made of cedar with natural pigment colors. The carved figures include a thunderbird, eagle, and wolf. It has writings on the back in faded brown ink. You can only see his signature using ultraviolet light. Overall it is in good vintage condition with wear throughout. It stands at 9.5” from the base and the base is 3” wide.

Wonderful Old Stone Carving Woman & Child By Eskimo Tivi Ilisituk Baffin Island - This is a stone sculpture by Tivi Ilisituk, the number on the bottom is registered to him and the signiture is TEE VEE. His works are held by the National Gallery of Canada. This one measures 7" by 6" by 4" and is in good condition. It shows an Eskimo mother with child on her back, tying a sack with well formed hands. Canadian Inuit Carved Stone Sculpture of Figure Holding Child Inuktitut Signed - An impressive, large 20th century Canadian Inuit carved stone sculpture. Adult figure holding child in igloo enclosure. Measures approx. 8.5"h x 11"w x 9.5"d. Weighs over 26 lbs! In good pre owned condition, just displaying some stray surface scratches, as well as natural cracks and internal fractures in the stone, including a large natural fissure to the sculpture's underside - see pictures. Incised signature in Inuktitut syllabics on underside, possibly ᑲᓚᐅ ᐅᑲᐃᑐ (Kalau Ukaitu), with Canadian Eskimo Art sticker.
