The gamble was that if the South won the war, the money would be redeemable. The 1st note from the Government of the Confederate States of America was issued in April of 1861. From then on, notes were issued on through 1864. Almost every Confederate note was painstakingly hand signed and numbered. It is not uncommon for these notes to have uneven, or rough borders since scissors or shears were used to hastily cut the sheets of notes apart.

1864 $1000 The Confederate States of America War Bond Third Series w/ 59 Coupons - This $1000 Confederate bond was in a picture frame that Ups said would cost about $200 to package and ship. I took the bond out of frame and folded it three original creases. Now it will be shipped without frame for about $19.00. Some of the pictures were taken in the frame and some out of frame. Being framed so long the bond is in great condition with no tears, holes and only a couple of creases. It is missing only one of the 60 coupons. I have not seen a Confederate bond on eBay in better condition than this one.

$5 T-60 Confederate States of America Treasury Banknote 1863 PCGS-B VF 20! ERROR - A great note with NO PROBLEMS! Only 4 or 5 pinholes that I can see, and the signatures and inks are very bright! The neat thing about this particular note is that, while most from this type have a red date stamp on them, this one was erroneously missed by the printer, and there is only a small red line where the date stamp is supposed to be!

1862 Confederate $10 note, cut-cancelled Ceres on cotton bale, R.M.T. Hunter - 1862 Confederate $10 note, with Ceres in the center, leaning on a bale of cotton, with ships in the background. The lower right shows a vignette of R.M.T. Hunter, Confederate States Secretary of State. The note has two cut-cancelled cuts in it, one to the left and one to the right of the center representation of Ceres. The note has good edges, with only one little nick and slight roughness on the top left corner. The note is otherwise solid condition. The reverse shows an inscription on one end of "From L.C. Hale to William Halls", done in fancy script. The other end shows what looks like "W + S".

1864 $10 Ten Dollar Confederate Note Bill Pmg 40 Epq T-68 S/N 1476 Nicer In Hand - This is a very nice 1864 $10 Confederate Currency Note T-68 PMG Extremely Fine 40 EPQ. The note is crisp and vibrant in color and looks to be higher grade to me but take a look and see what you think. I do not know how you could get a better one for the grade and has no holes of folded corners so there you go.
