Beautiful black kurofurisode kimono for wear as a hikizuri for a bride. Beautiful butterfly kamon on this one; really high end piece. The silk is incredibly soft and super fine; it almost feels like gauze. This one is a show stopper! Not actually sure I want to let it go, so I'm pretty firm on the price as a heads up! Beautiful black kurofurisode kimono for wear as a hikizuri for a bride. This one has sumptuous yuzen paint work with fine details and some really glorious embroidery work. Please see all the photos for all the fun this one has packed into it. Big glorious peonies and mums and a couple cranes tossed in for good measure. Beautiful butterfly kamon on this one; really high end piece. The silk is incredibly soft and super fine; it almost feels like gauze. This one is from the very, very early Showa period; it possibly could've been made the last couple years of the Taisho period; seeing as the designs are very much mirrored as true transitional Showa-Taisho kimono usually are. There are a few smudges on this one, a couple stains, but not a lot, the condition on this one is really pretty awesome for her age but definitely not perfect. She is an antique, either about hundred years old or a little older than that. At some point, someone has replaced her lining; so there's no worry of shattering red momi silk like what happens with a lot of these pre-war kimono. It looks like a fairly old lining; so I would say it was done a little post-war. The kimono does have a hiyoku/fake layer which adds some extra drama and a little harder to find than not on these kimono. The sleeves are additionally layered; they've got some nice antique red silk layered in them so that you still get that pre-war red-lining look. As a note to any defects on this kimono; my pictures show a large section of orange painted silk towards the bottom where the silk looks a little grungy. It's not; there used to be a lot of kinsai glitter on this section of the kimono but a lot of it has come off over the years ( show me one that hasn't and hasn't been restored!
