HENRY LEE MOREY (1841-1902 ): Prior to the Civil War Morey visited New Orleans and was horrified when he saw firsthand slavery. Upon returning home he opened his home to anyone traveling on the Underground Railroad. During the war he fought in many of the great battles in the Eastern Campaigns with the 75th Ohio Volunteers. Morey was taken POW at Battle of Chancellorsville, Va. & sent to rebel “hell hole ” Libby Prison!
