Foundation Ceará Sporting Club was founded on June 2nd 1914, by the young Luís Esteves Júnior and Pedro Freire, during a meeting in the afternoon at Café Artnoveau, which operated in the Ferreira Square, the center of Fortaleza city. At this meeting, they decided to invite some friends to discuss the idea and gather in the evening, at the residence of Luís Esteves. The excitement took over and soon everyone was provided the minutes of the founding of hitherto Rio Branco Football Club, first name of the club. Exactly one year after its founding, a general assembly met with two goals: to choose a new name for the soccer team and elect a new board. By consensus, the guild was renamed Ceará Sporting Club.
