Item:113826738884Up for auction is a bottle of Dr. Carey's Lifetone Prescription Tablets, manufactured by the Carey Medical Corporation, Elmira, NY. The box states that the sugar-coated tablets are "indicated in the treatment of general debility, weakness, brain fag, and weak nerves." They also serve as a "tonic after severe illness when the strength and vitality is low." According to the Official Gazette of the United States Patent Office, Vol. 332, a patent was filed for Dr. Carey's Lifetone Tablets on January 20, 1925. The glass bottle is full of bright pink pills, some of which have naturally deteriorated in quality after nearly 100 years. This item is of course being sold as a collectible only, not for consumption. Included in the box is a folded envelope that originally contained four Dr. Carey's Marshroot Laxative Pills. There are remnants of these pills in the envelope. Most are quite deteriorated and stuck to the inside. The box measures 2-1/8"W x 3-3/4"H. Condition as shown in pictures. The box has significant staining. The top closing flap and one top side flap are detached; the detached parts will be included. When the top closing flap is inserted, it stays in place and gives the appearance (from the front) of being attached or mostly so. The bottle top is rusted. The laxative pill envelope is quite aged. This item will be shipped through the U.S. Postal Service. Shipping cost will depend on the buyer's location and shipping preference as well as package weight and dimensions. We have provided package weight and dimensions to help calculate shipping. Insurance is at the discretion of the buyer. PayPal payment, including shipping, is expected within 48 hours of the auction's end. Willow Point Auctions sells a variety of antique and vintage items.
