Bird Caged Dove with Mother & Child, Huge Double-Folio 1870s Antique Print
You are bidding on a huge original antique print from an 1870s illustrated journal.
It depicts a beautiful mother holding her child up to the birdcage, which holds a beautiful white dove.
It is very large (double folio size), measuring approximately 21.5 x 15.75 inches (54.5 x 40 cm). The picture fills most of the page, with a caption below. There is text/photos on the back of this print, including a five inch article about the print. This print will come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The caption reads: "Household Pets" by B. J. Blommers in the exhibition at the French gallery, 120, pall-mall.
The print has a fold in the middle, where it was folded into the magazine long ago. Note that the fold line is clean and undamaged, because it was "tipped" into the binding. This was a luxury binding technique of that era, because the double page prints were free of binding holes down the center.
