Beautiful 19thC French Chiseled Silver Snuff Bombé Box

This is a lovely solid silver box was made in France circa 1890. The lid has been decorated with hand chiseled scrolls and leaves to the lid over Guilloche decoration and parallel lines background and bears a central reserve monogrammed ‘FSR’…the parallel lines repeat in different friezes to the rest of the piece. The hinge is perfect and the box closes tightly. It has gold gilded interior, ‘Vermeil’. The silverwork is in very good antique condition but for a couple of dings to one of the lateral panels, marked with arrows but almost imperceptible…and other normal signs of use…Attractive bombé shape. It is fully hallmarked twice inside a cartouche. It measures 3 ½” long, 2 1/8” wide and almost ¾” to the thickest point of the lid…it weighs 77 grams.
