Seller: 1910buck (2,171) 100%, Location: Montgomery, Texas, Ships to: US, Item: 312111095658 I have had this Pre Columbian Figure for about 20 years. I purchased it from a lady who told me she was on the site where it was dug and when it was found some 20 years plus before my purchase. It was near Quito Ecuador, she was there as a government guest and was given this and other pieces as gifts. I have done some online research on Pre Columbian Art and specifically clay figures such as this one but I have to admit that I really don’t know very much. I will attempt to describe this figure as best I can, please contact me with questions and I’ll do my best to answer them. It measures about 4 3/4 inches tall. I don’t know if it is a whistle but there is a hole at the top of the head and one very small one between the feet. It has a faint look of white, I’m thinking it may have been painted at the time it was made. It has a male look but the look of a God Or Deity or Idol as it is much too decorated to be just a man. There is decoration on his headdress, on his face, what looks like several necklaces around his neck and designs on his legs. His hands, fingers and toes are well defined. His tongue is sticking out. He seems to be holding something between his two hands but I don’t know what. The back side is very basic with no detail. I would say it is in incredible condition considering it’s age in the ground and some 40-50 years in a collection. It looks like there are 2 or 3 missing decorative “balls” that have been missing from the headdress for a very long time. Otherwise it is pretty wonderful...... It’s pretty wonderful no doubt, I don’t know how a Pre Columbian Figure could be much better. Buyers are responsible for the shipping cost based on their location.
