GET YOUR PART IN TWO DAYSThese are brand new from the factory updated auger shaft assemblies for any Bunn CDS or Ultra machine, part number 28081.0001 (also replaces CDS original part number 28081.0000). The updated version has a ceramic coating applied to the end of the shaft to help prevent corrosion and leaks where the shaft exits the cooling drum. PLUS, we give you for free the expensive Krytox lubricant for the auger shaft to motor shaft connection; Lubri-Film Plus for the front of the Auger Shaft where it exits the cooling drum; and an application brush to make proper lubrication easy (over a $20 value). You must replace the Krytox lubricant at the motor/shaft connection for the machine to work properly. Failing to install this lubricant will cause faulty data about the thickness of the product to be sent to the computer, resulting in problems like no freezing or incorrect thickness. This is a very expensive and "Exotic" lubricant with high heat and pressure specifications, don't try to use another lubricant in its place (other lubricants will fail and you'll get the same results as if you used no lubricant.) This is the same lubricant included in the periodic maintenance kits, except we make these ourselves and supply more than twice the amount of lubricant than Bunn does in their basic PM kit. This lubricant is hard to wash off, so we provide a brush to allow you to carefully and safely place the lubricant where it belongs without getting it all over your hands and then everything you touch (it will not wash out of clothes). Bunn sells .5 ounces of this lubricant for $64 (for technician multi-installs), you get about .2 ounces in this kit ($25 value). PLUS, we also provide you with a set of detailed instructions including annotated photos showing the proper way to install this part. Without these instructions you may damage other components (our instructions prevent you from damaging other parts by showing the technician's method to properly install this shaft). Technician trick: the Krytox lubricant is difficult to get off hands and almost impossible to get off of clothes. This is why we send you an application brush. The cap of Krytox comes in a small zip lock bag, open the bag but leave the cap of Krytox in the bag. Use the brush to dip into the Krytox inside the bag then use the brush to spread the lubricant. When done, reseal the bag and you've had minimal exposure to the Krytox (wrap up the brush in a paper towel and toss). Denatured alcohol is an adequate solvent for cleaning up any spills.Don't buy from someone who picks up stuff at "lost in transit" auctions -- buy from a Bunn Authorized Service Center like Margarita Guys.WHY NOT TO BUY A USED AUGER SHAFT: If you are replacing an auger shaft (usually due to corrosion or damage to the torsion springs), we highly recommend using a NEW shaft instead of a used shaft. The shaft assembly consists of many parts including the most important torsion springs. The torsion springs are inside the back of the shaft assembly. They are the two flat spring steel bars you can see inside the back of the shaft that connect the shaft to the slot in the motor shaft. They are actually spring steel that twist and change the position of the auger shaft pin as the product gets thinner or thicker. These pins, which move based on the torsion springs twisting, provide feedback to the computer telling it how thick the product is and is one sensor that lets the computer decide when to turn the compressor on and off. Used shafts have worn torsion springs from being old (that's why the worn out machines are being parted out) and worn torsion springs will lead to problems with the compressor not turning on or improperly turning on and off and will cause issues with your product quality, especially "soupy" product or poor or no freezing. Putting a used auger shaft with used torsion springs into your machine is a foolish waste of money. SOME COMPETITORS are selling used shaft(s) marked as new. A new shaft will always have a chrome motor end (not brass), and the ceramic end will be clean and the black ceramic coating will be even. Our new from the factory Bunn shafts are the updated assemblies with ceramic coating on the end to help prevent damage at the auger shaft bearing and seal. It is a wise investment to pay a few extra bucks now for a brand new shaft assembly to avoid problems down the road that come with a used shaft assembly. While the auger shaft torsion springs can be replaced, it is an advanced and potentially dangerous job requiring special tools and procedures or even a machinist for proper installation.NOTE: We highly recommend you also change the torsion bearing on the motor (the piece of copper looking metal in between the slit in the motor shaft). This is an important part of the entire torsion system, and if worn can cause faulty torsion readings being sent to the machine's computer (see problems above). We always change the motor's torsion bearing when we replace a shaft to ensure the job is done correctly. You can find a set of the torsion bearings and motor pins in our store. Notice the black portion of the shaft on the left side of the picture -- this is the coating of ceramic over the steel shaft where the auger exits the cooling drum (evaporator) of your machine. This very hard coating helps to prevent wear on the shaft where the auger shaft bushing and seal contacts the shaft, and also prevents pitting at this critical area of the shaft if your shaft seal fails. If your auger shaft has pitting or other damage in this area of the shaft (not unusual on CDS machines with earlier shafts without the ceramic coating where the seals were not replaced every six months and leakage occurred), you will be unable to get a good seal around the shaft and product will leak through to the shaft alley, through to the back of the machine, and into the machine components (auger motor, torque sensor board, fan, condenser -- you'll also get leaky product or black sticky substance inside and leaking out under the machine if there is a leak at the auger shaft seal). In some cases where maintenance was never done, we have even seen the ceramic coating damaged because the bushing and seal were not replaced every six months. The list price of this shaft from Bunn is $130 not including the shipping, the specialized lubricants and application brush, and detailed installation instructions. We prefer Paypal for payment and also accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express by contacting us -- check the "Seller's Payment Instructions" in the Shipping and Payments tab for more payment information.
