This fabulous set by Reed & Barton is quite a remarkable antique in that it is superbly crafted to display a multitude of embossed and etched designs all over the stand and kettle pot!The original goblets are missing, though 2 antique TOWLE silver plated goblets have been included, and the original drip dish is missing as well, though again, a lovely white embossed and silver plated detailedplate has been added to replace the original dish. Both, the the goblets and china dish plate, are lovely additions to replace the originals to this set and correlates quite well with the this original tilT pot & stand. The top lid can be removed by unscrewing the 2 balled units, revealing the ceramic insert liner(for cleaning). This white ceramic liner rests inside the pitcher firmly, and is easily removed when the 2 balled screws, atop the lid, which removes the lid ~ lifts out with ease revealing a sieved plate attached to the lid, and an ice catcher attached to the lid as well with the stamped Reed & Barton insignia (see photos #4 & #5). The tall silver plated handle rests down and lifts up with ease for transport. Quite a Heavy Set Indeed ~ Weighs a Whopping 11 Pounds 8 Ounces!! Heavy Duty!! Please note that the pitcher is heavily tarnished and has not been polished. The 2 goblets have not been polished either, though they are not heavily tarnished, and shouldpolish up quickly. The lovely white colored china plate indicates no chips or cracks, may show a few light scratches. The ceramic insert liner had a "U" shaped clean break, though has been glued back intoplace with several strong epoxy glues to the exterior side and does not leak, as it has been tested to hold water for over 24 hours indicating no seepage of liquid at all.Once this liner is placed into the silver plate pitcher, you would not be able to seethe glue on the outside of this liner, only a light crack seam from the inside of the liner will be noticable. Considering the age of this tilting pitcher, there are areas of plate loss that are obvious to the stand, however, there may appear to be minimal(?) plate loss to other areas the stand and to the kettle pot, as the heavy tarnish displayed is difficult to see if there is any other plate loss. Mild scratches and scuffs all around due to years of use and/or storage. Nevertheless, this magnificent service set is sold as herein described, and quite an impressive relic!
