ITEM: This is a vintage and original art moderne era 1951 McClintock Clock Co of Minneapolis electric clock. Really a nice design, this has the original store tag and price tag of $23.28 when it sold at a Jewelry store in 1951, a year after the clock company went out of business in 1950. This model was called the Lochinvar. A nice desk, table or mantle clock with a dark mahogany wood case and brass detailing. Measures 6" tall by 9 1/2" across by 1 3/4" deep. In 1901 McClintock founded the American Bank Protection Company which specialized in burglar alarm systems and safe deposit boxes. In 1908 he created, with Freeman L. Loomis, the McClintock -Loomis Company. McClintock was President and Treasurer and Loomis was the Vice-President. The McClintock-Loomis Company made electrical chime and clock systems. Loomis eventually left the company in 1917 and the company was renamed the O.B. McClintock Company. The McClintock Company ceased its operations in 1950 when Diebold, Inc. purchased it. When oiled, the wood encasing the clock is a gorgeous, rich color. The brass does have an aged look to it – but for being between 67 and 99 years old the overall look of the clock is quite lovely! Most of the original green felt on the base remains, so even if you choose not to replace it there is no fear of scratching furniture. Whether displayed or re-purposed, this beautiful clock will be an amazing addition to your vintage timepiece collection!!
