Antique walnut Machinist chest by Earnest E Gage Nov 24, 1900 Holy Grail !. This was made by E E Gage manufacturing Co Tag in bottom of case is still marginally legible-“Made by Ernest E Gage West Gardner, Mass. November 24, 1900. I believe this may have been his personal chest as I can’t find another one. Holy Grail of manufactured chests. I took all metal parts off the chest to remove grime only as this chest was almost black. I cleaned and waxed the surface of the wood, there are various stains and dings in the drawers. Under the right carrying handle there was a safe combination, I put that back in place. Perhaps the combination to the company safe? The case and drawer fronts are made of walnut. The case is very heavy and will have to be shipped via freight or carrier of your choice. Probably 75 pounds. Bottom drawer and top shelf are missing the felt lining. Case is large at 24x16x16. I believe this was the only one made.Shipping cost is just a guess. I’ll determine that according to your location. E. E.
