Seller: Top-Rated Plus Seller americaspride (8,487) 99.5%, Location: Trenton, Illinois, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 333122833624 This offering is for an antique late 19th century salesman sample bentwood rocker. These bentwood chairs were for years thought to have been made by the Shakers. However, it seems recent thinking is that they may have assembled and taped them for another company but that they themselves did not own the machinery to do the bends. There is in fact a full size and a salesman sample bentwood rocker pictured and described as having nearly identical measurements as this example, but having a taped seat and back, pictured in “Illustrated Guide To Shaker Furniture” by Robert F.W. Meader on plate 70. The rocker we are offering is very small measuring app. 14.75” in overall height, 5.75” to the top of the seat at front center and 9” in width at the front posts. No matter who made the chair we are guessing that it too is a salesman sample as it’s much smaller than a size “0” childs chair. The chair has a very early brown paint over an earlier black paint surface and it retains an early upholstered seat cover and back. There is one small crack on the end of the right arm where it joins the back post, otherwise there are no breaks or repairs. The buyer will pay a fixed amount of $ 24.00 for Standard Mail and we will include delivery confirmation, tracking, at no additional cost.
