Moser is not well known for signing their items, but this beautiful bottle is clearly made in the style of that company. The bottle features a rare horn shape made out of yellow-green Vaseline Glass. This shape was very difficult to make during the Art Deco period, which indicates the rarity of this piece, and the masterful craftsmanship that went into making it. The Vaseline glass is covered with delicate gold-colored enamel designs in a vine and leaf motif, with a coating of golden enamel at the top and bottom of the horn. These enamel caps are edged with pretty white enamel dots. The cap of the scent bottle is made of brass, and has a functional flip lid. The cap also has a short brass chain and ring attached to it, so this little bottle can be hung from a lady's chatelaine. The scent stem and opening of this bottle has been sealed and plugged for decoration. This perfume bottle is a stunning piece of history that you can wear! This piece is intended for the storage of perfume.Damage: Age appropriate wear. Some of the enamel has faded, and the bottle has been sealed. If desired, your local jeweler can unseal the bottle so it may be used for its original purpose. The price has been adjusted to reflect this. *Display items do not come with purchase, item only, unless otherwise noted.* The History This beautiful piece comes from the Art Deco Era! The Art Deco Era is famous for being the "Gatsby" or "Roaring Twenties" Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand. A chatelaine is a decorative belt hook or clasp worn at the waist with a series of chains suspended from it. Each chain is mounted with useful household appendages such as scissors, thimbles, watches, keys, and household seals. Chateleine bags refer to bags suspended from a waistband by cord or chain, which were popular from the 1860s to the end of the 19th century. Ancient Roman women wore chatelaines with ear scoops, nail cleaners, and tweezers. The name chatelaine derives from the French term châtelaine and was originally used disparagingly, as it referred to a device designed to have all the tools necessary for the woman of the household to sort out any problem she may encounter in her day, like a fraying curtain. Also known as uranium glass, Vaseline glass has been produced in a variety of styles over the Victorian and Art Deco Eras! From vases to dinnerware, and all different forms of jewelry, this glass was very popular during these eras! Due to its "out of this world" green and yellow hue, Vaseline glass was sought after by every jewelry collector during these Eras! The Method of Enameling originally dates all the way back to the Ancient Egyptians. The Ancient Greeks, Celts, Georgians, and Chinese all followed suite. The technique involves fusing powered glass to a substrate, or base, by firing. In jewelry, the base is generally a metal. Enamel is made of colored powdered glass, or may include clear powdered glass that is mixed with colorful metallic pigments. It is primarily used on decorative art or jewelry, usually small in size. Besides jewelry, enamel can also be applied to glass, ceramic, stone, and various other materials.
