Item:293501890053For sale today is a small to medium size nicely restored flat top steamer trunk with embossed tin and a beveled lid and the restoration turned out just awesome! The embossed tin pattern is fine wire mesh - see the close up picture. I found one patent date on the hardware of March 1880 which makes this wonderful old flat top trunk as much as 150 years old - a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started. It has a good bottom and the metal was painted. It has the three original hinges that are heavy duty, fancy, tight and work well. There are forty plus pieces of polished hardware. It has the original Yale and Towne center lock - no key, it has been polished and the key # is AB. A new black leather lid lifter was installed. It still has both of the original latches and both work poorly. It has sixteen solid oak slats in a golden oak color and are thicker than normal. The trunk has a new custom built tray and interior has been removed. All the metal/tin is in VGC. The trunk retains the four original metal wheels on the bottom and the trunk rolls easily. Two new black leather handles were installed with the original end caps. It still has the original metal lid stay and the lid closes well. This awesome old flat top trunk is 30.5W, 19D and 23.5H and weighs 42 lbs. This will be an oversize package when packed and ready to ship. Any item purchased will be shipped no later than the first business day after the Paypal payment hits. Shipping options are local pickup - free, Fedex and Greyhound. These trunks are all antiques with most being well over a 100 years old and will have one or more of the following: dings, dents, nail/tack holes, age cracks in the wood, separations in the metal, signs of age, signs of wear, old repairs, new repairs and new parts. Please read the entire description and look at all the pictures as they very accurate and will give you a very good idea of what you are bidding on.
