Seller: ejs1 (2,415) 100%, Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 254319726410 Silver-PlatedCirca 1800 StyleHot Water Jug/PitcherRequires Repair This silver-plated hot water jug was probably originally made in the United Kingdom in about 1800. Since then it has had some repairs and still requires some. The piece stands about 11" tall with the finial, the finial itself measuring 1.25" in height. The pitcher is about 4.5" circumference at the widest point. It has a decorated cane handle that requires some repairs or replacement; it, itself might be a replacement of the original; the welds attaching it to the main body are too rough to be original work. The jug's base is 3" square, and also might be an "add on," the original base being the circle attached to the current base. There are no markings on this base.On the front, just below the beaded separator that circles the pitcher at its midsection, is an elaborately inscribed monogram of the letter "W" (please see photos). To the left of that, in the middle of the lower section of the jug, is the only dent we found. It is completely circular and measures about 1" diameter. (This can be seen in the fifth photo above, on the bottom section of the pitcher.) We find no other dents in this piece. There is some scuffing on the right side of the jug that is hardly visible. The finial can be removed by turning it until the slots in the opening on the top of the lid match the protrusions on the finial. (See photos.) The measurement of this jug from the farthest part of the handle to the tip of the spout is about 5.5". This pitcher is double lined and has a capacity of one quart. The weight of the pitcher before wrapping for shipping is one pound and six ounces. Please see our photos. We gladly answer questions or supply additional photographs. We ask that you make your inquiries prior to bidding. SHIPPING AND CONDITIONS:All our offerings are carefully packed, but we advise buyers to take out insurance. We cannot be responsible for uninsured items. We request payment within two days of the auction's close.Your address must be current with eBay. Condition: This is a used hot water pitcher that is silver-plated. Its style appears to be from the turn of the 18th century. We cannot read the markings because they are hidden by what we believe is a restoration which included a square piece of silver-plate welded beneath what was the original base. There is a major ding in the middle of the left side on the bottom section of this pitcher. It measures about1" across. Some of the surface has light scuff marks. There is an elaborate monogram "W" on the center bottom section in the front. The cane handle that insulates the silver from the boiling water has some of the decorative cane-work coming unwound. We have scotch-taped it together for these photos. We do not know whether or not the finial, which is removable, is original or a replacement., Age: Original ~1800, Repaired & Revised 1900s, Type: Pitchers & Jugs, Composition: Silverplate
