This particular example measures 12-1/2" long and will open to a hanging width of up to 16". This old pot hook was hand-forged as evidenced by the numerous hammer marks on the iron and the individually turned hook ends. From the top hinge to the turned hook ends, it is in very good condition. The top hinge moves easily, and the bottom hooks retain good upward curve to easily support any kettle, skillet or other early iron cooking vessel. The tiny tip of one hook is missing. These hooks were made to be used with skillets or pots that did not have handles. A classic and very early example of a hand-forged iron hearth accessory! THANKS FOR VISITING LANE'S COUNTRY LARK! Condition: Very Good condition with the tiny tip of one hook missing...please see description., Type: Pot Hook, Date of Creation: 1800-1899, Region of Origin: US-Northeast, Style: Naive, Primitive, Material: Wrought Iron, Original/Reproduction: Original, Color: Dark Iron, Maker: Blacksmith, Size Type/Largest Dimension: 12-1/2" Long
