It is a very rare antique from 1900-1914 and used in WW I. The kit is 6.25"x4.25" with 2.5"x1.75" side flaps that fold it up to 4.75"x2.25"x .75". The nine vials are 2"x3/8" and 1 oz. They are labeled: calcium, digitalin, glanoin, acantine, adodyne for infants, strychnine (empty), morphine (empty), hyoscyamine. (spelling? on some?) In the early 1900's it was innovative to use active part of medicinal plant(generally an alkaloid) and formed into dosimetric granules to be more consistent and effective dosage for patients, Most of the vials still contain the granules!! It is labeled "Abbott Alkaloidal Co., Chicago and has a circle stating: purity, accuracy guaranteed. It is from Abbott Alkaloidal Company, which then changed name in 1915 to Abbott Labs, which is now a global company. The Abbott Lab Historical Archives department in Chicago gave me this information and stated that they considered it "priceless" and that it should be in the Abbott archives. It is from my Grandfather's estate, found in my Mother's belongings. He was in the Army in WW I. The larger vial kit has seven remaining vials is not labeled and in poor condition, but still interesting. Vials are 3.25" x .5" and it is a trifold and folds to 8"x4"x1.5:" The vintage syringe is a glass 2 piece Yale B-D Lok Syringe in a case with papers, dated 1946. The history of this piece in unsure, but probably from my mother, as she was a nurse.This is a one of a kind item for any Pharmacist, Doctor, or war historian and a great conversation piece!
