Seller: debjbrom (313) 100%, Location: Oberlin, Ohio, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 193135167703 This is a piece of incredibly scarce and beautiful circa 1850's to 1880's New York City Castle Garden historical memorabilia. It is a very rare antique small hand-painted souvenir that depicts the former immigration structure in pre-1890 condition (based on an image from that era after renovations to the building in the background), with wonderful artistic detailing, still bright in color, appears to be hand made not sitting perfectly flush. I am unsure of the material which feels rather like chalky clay or pottery on the bottom, but has a shiny porcelain-like look to the painted surface. There is some typical surface wear from age, as shown, but no cracks or chips noted, except only at one of the peaks does it feel a little rough, possibly rubbed off or a mild tiny surface chip. The inside is rather dirty/dusty and possibly some of the soiling on the outside would come off as well, but I have not cleaned it and will leave that to the buyer. This amazing collectible measures about 3" in length. I have never found anything like it. A fabulous and extremely rare old piece of history from New York City in nice shape for the age!
