Seller: highlandpete (488) 100%, Location: Highland, New York, Ships to: US, Item: 264465756150 Up for auction is an antique double walled Meriden Britannia porcelain lined water pitcher. The Meriden Britannia Company was formed in 1852 in Meriden Connecticut as a manufacturing company focused on producing wares in britannia metal. This pitcher was a presentation piece from 1871. It was given by the Cranston Rhode Island Town Council Members, J.W. Bullock, WM. Elsbree and Wm. H. Dyer, to the School Committee of Cranston. I attached a screen shot from a Cranston R.I. annual report that I found online naming these three individuals. The pitcher is in very good vintage condition. I did not try to polish it. I will leave that decision up to the buyer. It is silver plated, but over the years it has taken on a patina that looks more like pewter. It would look right at home in a pewter collection if left as is. The porcelain lining is in excellent condition. It is a very early example of the Meriden company's Britannia silver plated offerings of the 19th century and would be a beautiful addition to someone's collection. Good luck and thank you for looking. I accept Paypal only. No international shipping. Shipping is via USPS flat rate of $14.10. I will absorb any additional shippng charges. Style: Victorian, Age: 1850-1899, Pattern: 51, Brand: Meriden Britannia
